TRAUST Ltd was established in 1978

The company was established to design and manufacture processing machinery for pelagic fish and crustaceans, and to provide enterprising clients with professional consultancy and adequate engineering on the creative ideas, ingenuity and inventions by the company's staff.

Most of the technologies employed by TRAUST result from independent development within the company, some are achieved in cooperation with clients, others obtained through joint ventures with experienced manufacturers in Iceland and abroad. To provide clients always with the best, TRAUST employs a team of highly skilled and experienced engineers as well as a food scientist.

In more than thirty years of existence, TRAUST has developed and produced a number of stationary installations as well as a variety of highly specialized plants for use on land, board ships, such as capelin processing lines, scallop machines, shrimp plants, shellfish machines and salting systems.

Recent trend towards processing the catch at sea called for new and compact designs of processing lines for shrimps, capelin roes, scallops and other exotic species. TRAUST reacted promptly to this new development. In addition to some twenty stationary plants in this category, the company has now successfully designed and delivered well over thirty complete and compact seaborne processing lines of various degree of automation.

TRAUST also manufactures miscellaneous equipment and components for the food processing industries, such as blast freezers, IQF belt freezers, box washing machines, glazing equipment, fish washing lines and various types of conveyors to integrate the machinery into complete processing plants.

Rapid development in the North–Atlantic fishing industry during the past few years and creative thinking at TRAUST have caused the company to expand by leaps and bounds.  Presently over 90% – of TRAUST's earnings derive from exports. The company also imports some machinery.

In the small marketplace of Iceland and the North–Atlantic, which is prone to fluctuations through strict control of the fishing grounds, every new plant designed by TRAUST tends to differ from those previously delivered. The company has developed a keen sense for these trends and changes in requirements, resulting in a comprehensive and purposeful range of the equipment being offered.
